Red Lion Hotel, Redding, CA
A month ago, I wrote about how my friend Simon Adahl was released in the gifts of the Spirit after Matthew had told him to love his enemies. Since then, he and his good friend Orjan Armgren have led many to faith in Jesus through the gifts of the Spirit, especially the gift of prophecy. When people experience a miracle, it is hard for them to deny the existence and power of God.
About three years ago Orjan told Simon: “The Lord wants us to go to Redding in the United States.” “No way!” Simon said, “there are so many strange people in the US, they don’t need two more!” He really didn’t want to go, but he agreed to pray “Lord, if it is your will let it happen and fix the money and so on.” He hoped that nothing would happen.
A few days later, they were visiting a prophetic woman, and as soon as she opened the door she exclaimed “You are going to the US, I pay it all!” Oh crap, Simon thought for himself. “The Lord has told me that you are going on the first of November!” When Simon checked his calender, he had no work between the first and fifteenth of November, and his wife was by coincidence also free from work on exactly those days so that she could take care of their child.
Orjan had said that they were going to visit Bethel Church. When Simon checked their website he saw that they arranged a “Leadership Advanced Conference” for pastors and leaders. It was only possible to participate if one got an invitation from the church. He emailed them: “Hi my name is Simon Adahl and I don’t even want to go but the Lord has provided for us in a supernatural way for us to come.” They got the invitation.
Soon were Simon and Orjan from the small Swedish town of Gavle standing in a line to Bethel Church together with pastors and preachers from American mega churches and giant ministries. “What are we doing here?” they asked themselves.
But as the conference started, their prophetic gifts were intensified. Simon prophecied to a man from New Zealand he was sitting next to “Don’t take the stairs, enter the elevator, put the button and go to the highest floor!” The man was chocked. He said: “When I left New Zealand to come here, a man prophesied to me at the airport ‘Don’t take the stairs, enter the elevator, put the button and go to the highest floor!'” Simon and Orjan also received a lot of prophetic words, among them that God is going to send a revival like the one on Azusa Street to Sweden (jay!!).

However, the most amazing things happened at the Red Lion Hotel where they were staying. One evening, Orjan told Simon “The Lord wants us to go to the bar”. “Great, let’s go there!” The hotel bar was a saloon where guys with cowboy hats were dancing line dance, just like you expect in the US. In the bar disk was a woman serving beer, looking quite grumpy and bitter.
Orjan went straight at her and said “Excuse me, I go with God.” “Yeah?” the woman said, irritated. “You don’t have to worry for your son who is in jail”, Orjan said, “he is reading the Bible and he has two friends who guide him in his Bible reading.” Then the woman gasped. “How do you know this? I just talked to my son, he told me that two guys help him read the Bible in the prison!” Simon explained that God cares for both her and her son and gave her a Bible verse. They told her good night and went to sleep.
The next day they were attending the conference as usual and when they came back to the hotel Orjan said that the Lord wants them to go to the bar again. When they got there, the woman ran towards them, hugged them and yelled “I have received Jesus!” She told them that when she came home the night before she could not get Simon and Orjan off her mind. She picked down a Bible from her shelf and prayed “God, if those crazy Swedes are for real, show me a sign!” When she opened the Bible, she had placed her thumb on the verse Simon had given her.

While they were talking, a waitress came over to them. Simon asked her “Do you also want to receive Jesus?” “Yes!” she exclaimed and kneeled with her arms lifted towards heaven. They prayed the sinner’s prayer with her, and Simon said “The Lord wants you to go to Bethel Church. You don’t have to become member or something, just go there and He will do something for you.” Three months later, she went there and as she entered the building she was instantly healed in her shoulder.
While she was on her knees in the bar, however, her boyfriend showed up. He was furious. “What are you doing with her? Who are you?” Simon stood for a while and silently received his anger, then he said “You know what, I was also bitter once but the Lord took me out of it.” He told the man about this and then he suddenly prophesied “I send you to Africa!!” The man started to cry, he was a former pastor whose ministry in Africa had crashed completely. “The Lord restores you now!” Simon proclaimed. Two months later, this guy actually went to Africa as a missionary.
“Here are some money!” he told Simon and Orjan as they were heading back to their room. “No, we don’t want any money!” Simon replied, thinking for himself that this is typical American behaviour. “Bur the Holy Spirit says that you should have them!” “Oh, in that case, bring them on!” Then Simon and Orjan went out from the bar, but as they passed the reception desk the receptionist said “I want Jesus too!” She had seen and heard everything.
They gladly led her to the Lord as well, and then went up to their room, amazed of what God had done. But there Orjan said “The Lord says that the receptionist should have the money.” Okay, so Simon went down again and gave her the money. She started to cry immediately. “I had no money left for this month, and this morning I prayed to God to help me. I asked Him for this very amount of dollars!”
Isn’t this lovely? While I’m sure they had a great conference, the big Kingdom stuff didn’t happen in a church building but in a bar. This kind of life is what we all should strive for!

Thank you so much for sharing this… what a joy to hear all the Spirit of God is doing … Jesus is bringing the Kingdom. He is the light of the world – and now He is calling us to be lights to the world and to shine like lights in the universe, sharing His presence in the world around us. And the people in darkness shall see a GREAT light…
What a cool testimony of the ministry power in developed spiritual gifts. The Lord just brought my wife and I to redding. We got here on Tues. we received a word to go but didn’t know how. Within one week God provided good jobs for both of us in Redding (where unemployment is bad) a place to live, and money to move. Now were here 🙂 excited to see what God is gonna do!

Most of the miracles Jesus did happened in homes or the marketplace and not in the synagogues, I.e. the meeting place.
Great to see God moving in the United States. May it continue and intensify.
Amen, Tony! When Jesus performed miracles He was generally outdoors, and if He for once was indoors, He was guesting someone’s house. The Kingdom cannot be trapped in a church building.

Truly awesome testimony. Devil bites the dust again……. 🙂 and more lives will be touched and healed and saved as were in the days of Brownsville Pensacola, Florida in the early 90’s so will it happen again in Bethel Church, Redding, California and spread like wildfire around America and overflow to many nations…….God bless, guide and protect you always as you continue to do his kingdom work here on earth!!!
